Well what does one say about oneself? I guess I'll stick to woodworking as a hobby and journey; how I got here and where I plan to go. I've been tangled up in this for a little over a year now. It began with a miter saw, table saw and drill. I thought surrounding myself with big power tools was cool and fun. As a new homeowner I saw endless possibilities. I think the next thing I aquired was a compressor and some nailers(the most unused thing in what has now been transformed from a garage to a shop). As with many things I became rather obsessed, but it was over a period of months that I found myself less interested in carpentry and more interested in the actual art of cabinet making. My cabinet making was short lived as i failed miserably with my first set of bookcases. The oak plywood is stilll in my shop. I then became fascinated with Fine Woodworking, I wanted to do what these guys were doing. I soon realized that I needed some new tools. I welcomed the arrival of my bandsaw and drill press and haven't looked back. A midi lathe was added shortly after, and the rest is history. I'm evolving as I go, at first I believed in order to do what i wanted i needed power. I have since found myself enjoying using hand tools more and more. I imagine when my bench is complete I will enjoy it even more. Anyway, this hobby began simply enough but has become an addiction, an infatuation, better yet, a way of life.

Welcome to LJs. I am sure that you will find this to be a rewarding and exciting part of your woodworking journey.

I love your avatar. Obviously this is your “shop assistant”.
