I’m brand new to Lumberjocks so I thought I show a few pics of the evolving shop in our new (2009) home.
I’ve got a long way to go but I’m making steady progress. More to come w/ future posts.
We retired to Prescott in 2008 (from PA) and built our new home in 2009. From the beginning it was designed as a single story home w/ a shop in the walk-out basement. The shop area is L-shaped & is approx. 1200 sq ft with a full bath & office just off the main shop space. It was designed to be separate from the upper level & accessible only by way of an outside stairway. It has a separate HVAC system to prevent dust migration to the rest of the house. To provide for future occupants’ wishes I had the builders do the rough framing for an interior stairway between the levels so the space might be used later as a lower level game room, etc.
At move in time (Nov 2009) nothing had been done to the shop area except for the bathroom fixture install and the basic walls. The pics show how the space has been developing so far.
Pic #1: Construction pic showing the siting of the house/shop on the lot. The entire lower level is the shop area.
Pic #2: A closer view of the lower level as it appears today. The office area is at the far right end; the loading area is next to the driveway.
Pic #3 & 4: The starting point for the shop. Pic #3 is the “L”; Pic #4 is the main part of the shop. The bath & office are through the far doorway.
Pic #5 & 6: The block walls are sealed & painted. Still no place to unpack the boxes or set the tools!
Thanks for looking,
mjk

Nice space, keep the shop updates coming. Shop photos are always interesting, especially to those of us still in PA.
