Mission oak Dresser

This project was a comissioned order that took way longer than it should have.
I had actually started the build process back in April …. yes eight months ago. The building process was finished by the first week in May but the customer had a difficult time deciding on the color that he wanted.
There were several firsts for me on this project, I used a brush on lacquer by Deft for the first coat and then switched to aerosol cans for the subsequent layers. NO, I will not do that again, the overspray took a considerable amount of work to correct. However I have no plans on going back to polyurethane finishes again either. I have decided that the lacquer finish is so easy to apply that I sent my wife out to buy a Titan Capspray95 for future use.
Delivery was this afternoon and the customer liked it enough to order enough pieces to fill their home.
Don’t we wish that all of our customers were that nice and understanding!?

End tables

I started work these tables sometime back in September (I think ), actually it really was some time ago (at least that is what my wife has been telling me for the last two months). Seriously I did start them in the fall of last year. She really has been patient. It was just that so many other things came up, business did pick up a little.
They are made out of red oak, have a mission style to them and are finished in wipe on poly sanded to 1000 grit. It looks like the next project on her list (not necessarily my list) is a matching coffee table.

my workbench is finally finished...well almost

The following are some pictures of my workbench as it sits this minute. It is almost finished, there is only one coat of poly on it as of now, with a little bit of luck I hope to be able to put the second coat on it tomorrow. The top is made out of three layers of 3/4 inch MDF surrounded by a 1 1/2 inch by 3 inch oak apron. I needed to keep the cost down so I only put a vise on the front that I was able to find at a yard sale for $10.00. It has taken me about three to four weeks to get this project started and finished….at times I honestly did not know if it would ever get finished, but as it sits I am very pleased with the results.

The recipient (the LOML ) thinks that it is wonderful and that is what makes everything all worth while.
