Well I think that I may have found a great deal…..but I will not know until the weekend. I have been looking at the craigslist for the Phoenix metro area for the last six to nine months and have purchased quite a few items from it. I started out finding a Rockwell 10” contractors saw last spring for $120. I had felt pretty good about that and actually still do….except at times it seemed a bit underpowered. My wife bought a Biesemeyer fence for me last year and I have enjoyed using it but secretly I have been wanting a unisaw for some time. In January a man listed one for $600…..a decent price, if it is in good shape but not bad otherwise. Well yesterday the man updated his post and advertised the saw without a price. I called him and he said that he wanted between $200- $300. I just got back home and am the very proud owner of a 34-450 Rockwell unisaw. But the best part is that I only paid $140 !!! I posted some before pics on my workshop page….it isn’t pretty but it is functional… I will swap my Biesemeyer and put the old Contractors saw on craigslist.
If you want to see pics you need to go to my workshop…..sorry I do not know how to put pics on a blog entry.

To put photos on the blog you need a photo hosting site like flickr. You upload your files to the site and then link to them from lumberjocks.

WayneC is correct. I use, but flickr is good too.

Congrats on the great deal!

Mike, learning to post pictures to a blog is a matter of practice. Here is a blog posted by GaryK that provides a tutorial on adding pictures to a blog or forum post.

Basically, as Wayne says, you have to export your pictures from your computer to a third party such as Photobucket. Once they have uploaded then you copy the direct link and paste it where you want it to appear in your blog or forum post.

Oh, by the way, nice score on the saw as well.

Some cleaning, some fresh paint, re-checking bearings, brushes, and windings, slap the Biesemeyer fence on it, and that saw is good to go for another 50 years. I noticed the missing door panels on it. Do you have them? Would be great to see that old saw fully restored!

Stupid question, but … since he GOT pictures onto LJ, couldn’t he link TO them [by bracketing the link with exclamation points] on a blog?

I don’t know the answer … but … seems like it oughta work….

It will be a labor of love, the end result will be well worth the effort. You found yourself one sweet saw.

Thanks guys….I plan on starting the cleaning stage tomorrow morning. When I bought it the man said that it was his father-in laws, and that it had been in an outside shed for the ten or more years. I did tell him that it had more mouse droppings on it than I had seen since I left the farm as a kid.
Neil thanks for the tip on posting pics…I will try that next time. I am pretty much computer illiterate so I can use all the help that I can get.

Have your say...
