Just finished up slabbing out a walnut log I bought in California, my new favorite wood is walnut. Amazing grain and figure.

That’s a beautiful slab! What are you going to make from it? I’ve got 6 walnut trees on my property. It sure cuts a lot easier than mesquite. I wish you were a lot closer to East Tennessee, I’d swap maple, walnut and cherry for some mesquite logs. One day, when I can afford it, and I get a log truck we may have to do some trading.

I think the center slabs with the quatersawn grain will most likely be sold as gunstocks. The rest will be very nice coffee table slabs or desk top slabs. The gunstocks will probably be posted on ebay to see what they will bring, the rest I will probaly price at 8 dollars a bdft and sell locally.
