Cancer

Hi all

My wife just got diagnosed with breast cancer. As i’m sure you can guess its very scary. We have attacked the situation head on. The doctors all say that its 95% curable because its small and we caught it early. The type is DCIS hers is very small and still contained within the milk ducts (as far as they can tell). Debbi and I have both decided that she shouldn’t have to deal with the stress of every year going back for a mammogram and wondering if its going to come back, so the plan is double mastectomy. Some say this is drastic measures, but in our case Debbi is a worry wart and she admits this freely. She shouldn’t have to be scared every year whether its going to be ok or not. With this decision she will not need any chemo or radiation as long as the cancer hasn’t spread anywhere else, (they will know this on Friday when they do the surgery) So I’m begging all of you out there to send us your positive thoughts and prayers. My wife is young (46) and has a full life ahead of her, we want her here to share all there is out there.

Now more begging for help, I feel bad having to ask for help but i don’t want any hand outs. We are putting all the things we have made up on our web site, etsy, and ebay over the next couple of weeks. Debbi is a massage therapist and works for herself so when she isn’t working she isn’t making any money, but yet the bills don’t stop coming. The insurance we have is for small business’s and its not really the best. She will be out of work after the surgery for 2 to 5 weeks (dr says realistically around 3 weeks she will be able to do minor work). So if you know anyone looking for some nice glass or wood art (maybe xmas presents) please check out our sites and let your friends now. Most of all send your positive thoughts and prayers our way.

I will add you both to my prayer list. I know the stress of being away from work after surgery. I will pass along your links as the opportunity presents itself. God Bless.

My mom was diagnosed with two different types of cancer (breast cancer being one of them) and she has bounced back from both. I believe that mental aggression towards the disease has a lot to do with the body’s ability to fight these diseases. In 2003 I was diagnosed with MS and decided I did not want to just accept it. I look at my disease as “I have MS, it doesn’t have me.”

Good luck to your wife, you, and the rest of your family as you begin the fight. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

  • ”Hope is like a Gift to Give, & Receive”

Hi Debbi, & Doug!

I’m writing to you, because I too had Breast Cancer – like yours – DCIS – contained in the milk duct.

I had a mastectomy of my left breast, & Thankfully didn’t need Chemo, or Radiation

I am a Breast Cancer Survivor of 8 years now.

I am sharing this with you hoping it will comfort, & encourage you both.

Your personal choice about your surgery, is, I believe the right one for you.

That’s all that counts. I still need a mammogram every year.

It is always a concern until I know the results.

The “Hope” quote was taken from my little Hope book, I got at a Book Store, after I found out I had Breast Cancer.

It’s full of Hope, & Encouragement for Women like you, & I, Debbi.

We Pray for a Successful Surgery, & Complete recovery.

” ALWAYS HAVE HOPE.”

Your LOVE for each other will take you both through all of this,

& back to HAPPIER TIMES*.

BARB CAIN

( With hope all things are possible.)

My thoughts are with you and I hope both of you will come through this with good health. My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and although it was only a small spot, she opted to have her entire breast removed as preventive measure. She went through a short term of chemo and that was the worst part. She did not lose her hair and only had some weakness and nausea from the treatments. She is alive and healthy today and has not had any problems since.

Your courageous journey is ahead of you and with the proper treatments you will share your lives together and grow old together for many more years. Do your research, ask questions and listen to your options to make your decisions. Be brave and conquer this demon. Your love and wisdom will pull you through. I will be thinking of both of you.

Hello Debbie and Doug;

All prayers and good wishes and prayers are being sent your way. (I doubled up on the prayers part)

As been mentioned, it’s important to keep the spirits high, and the stress low.

For your information…. Dad had cancer and was in the hospital intensive care unit for 13 weeks. The doctors gave up on him. His body was full of cancer; his legs were full of blood clots; his kidneys quit working. The pain was so much that he passed out whenever they moved him from bed to bed.

He cured himself. A few months later, he was walking two and a half miles each day and feeling great. The doctors could not find any cancer, and they called him a “miracle man”.

He told me that he quit eating meat, plus he visualized white light flowing through all the cells of his body. Plus he did not put his attention on the cancer, so it could not get any of his energy.

Thought you’d like to know.

God bless you.

Hey all

Been outta the loop for a while, but everything should come back to normal soon. Debbi beat the cancer deal and is back to work, this summer she will have one last surgery and it will soon become all a thing of the past. This was a trying time as i’m sure you can guess, but it sure makes you think about what is really important in life. Even though during all this i got laid off from my job, Debbi lost a big client, and we are now filing the big bad bankruptcy we’re positive about the future. Really all that matters is that you are with your loved ones. We thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers and hope that all is well in your lives as well.

Have a great day… Doug
