I had to chuckle a little when I read all the other blog posts from other newbies like myself that were overwhelmed with the warm welcome here. =) Out of the MANY forums I frequent this one really has stood out for welcoming aboard fresh meat… err…. new folks. Yea that’s it.

In any case… My tracking number from Accu-head seems to have worked today. This is a considerable change from yesterday where I couldn’t figure out where the heck I should track the package because it’s not in a format I’ve seen before. I was even more surprised to find out they ship out of TN. This is good news since I’m in NC and most shipments from TN take about a day or two to get here.

I’ve looked all over the internet and have yet to see a good in depth review of the Accu-head replacement helical heads. I may be naive in thinking it’s going to change my Ryobi planer into something resembling a worthwhile machine but I had to give it a shot. If all goes well I’ll be making some wood chips with it here shortly and posting a review so you guys can all run out and buy one too so I don’t feel so lonely.

Hope it goes well. I believe Ryobi was the first to come out with a benchtop planer, back in the 80s. But I’m pretty sure putting a spiral head on a Ryobi is a first. Let us know how that works out.

Yes I’d be interested. There are a lot of sears jointers that could use an upgrade.

I cannot deny your anxiety, I used to check the shippng status via tracking number every 4hrs. just to make sure it will not go to other country….LOL
Good luck!

I ship overseas pretty often so usually it’s my customers that are worried ;) These days fewer and fewer people take the risk to ship from the US to other countries it seems.

The website for accu-head is: http://www.accu-head.com

It looks sketchy and their email confirmation system is broken but you can call and order… Once it gets here I’ll get it installed and run some boards through so we can see if it’s worth the $250 or if everyone just needs to save up for a SHELIX. They make the heads that go in the Steel City planers so I’m not terribly worried. Those have received pretty good reviews.

Have your say...
