Powered respirator options? - 0 replies
Interested in getting a powered respirator and wondered what the options were? All I am seeing out there is the trend unit and the smaller unit offered by rockler (which is not appealing as I have a beard and wear glasses).

Sawyers in the Denver Metro? - 5 replies
I just recently relocated to Denver from Minneapolis. In Minnesota, lumber and sawyers were plentiful….times were good, the shop was full. I knew I was in trouble on the drive into Denver and not seeing any trees! Anyone on these boards have a good contact for hardwood in the Denver area?

Just curious what other’s experience is with Jet tech support. About a week ago, I called tech support. I sat on hold for 45 minutes. I had to head out, so left a voicemail as the friendly recording kept suggesting over and over during my 45 minute wait. I went to the mailbox, the message said I would get a call back within a day. a w...

So I know both Rockler and Woodcraft use 10mm tubes for their “cuban” pens, does anyone know if the bearings are interchangeable? It would make life very easy, so I am guessing not.

New Jet 1221VS - Aligning head & tailstock - 8 replies
Just picked up a new Jet 1221VS on Friday. Finally got it out of the box Sunday, got it cleaned up, and moved the tailstock to meet the headstock. Disappointment, the tailstock was at least 1/16” behind the headstock and about 1/32nd below the tailstock. I reseated the spru drive and live center just to make sure they just werent a bit ...

Buying a lathe at Home Depot...which should I get - 13 replies
So I have a bunch of Home Depot gift cards that I have just been sitting around and decided to put them towards a lathe. So for the sake of this argument, the lathe universe consists of just whats available at home depot. Im new to turning, just looking to make simple/smaller items….a few pens, maybe a small bowl or two…and want so...

Pen turning class at rockler? - 8 replies
Has anyone taken a pen turning class at rockler? I know it depends mostly on the instructor, but did you find it worth it? I just moved across country and every tool I own is packed away in a storage unit. I’m getting the itch to make some sawdust and a turning class seemed like a good “outlet” since I have no lathe experien...

So my wife came up to me yesterday and said “You know it’s our fifth anniversay next month, right?” Luckily, I could say “Of course”. The following question “Do you know what the customary gift for a 5th anniversary is?” Oh man, busted. I have no clue. So she told me it’s wood. YES! Fina...

For Sale: 8" Jointer Cutterhead - 4 replies
I purchased a G0490 jointer from Grizzly in January and it’s worked great for me. I recently bought a spiralhead planer and decided to replace the straight knives in the jointer w/ a spiral head as well. The head has about 6 months of use on it and includes the bearings. I’m not sure what the price would be or if there is a market...

I thought it would be fun to pit the Forrest WWII up against the Freud P410. I had a hard time choosing between the blades about a year ago and ended up with the Freud. It was in need of some sharpening so I sent it to an authorized Freud center, but in the meantime, got the itch and picked up the Forrest WWII. I wanted to compared these 2 ag...

Jet JWL 1220 - Good first lathe? - 5 replies
There is a used JWL 1220 up for sale in my area. Reviews seem pretty favorable of the lathe and the price seems fair at $300. Any reason I should look for another lathe as a beginner?

They’re not the cheapest tools to start with, so on sale its not necessarily a steal, but all General International products are on sale up to 40% off right now on Home Depot. It looks like free shipping on some of the smaller items, but all can be shipped to the store for free. Debating on picking up one of their mortise machines afte...
