This weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to go visit Ira, “Rustfever”, in Central Calif and he bestowed upon me some pieces of the greatest selection of woods I have seen in a long time.
After a tour of his fantastic shop, he proceeded to take me to several “pallets” of his collection of fine woods.
After about 4 hours of “drooling” and acting like a “kid in a candy store” I selected the following:

8 boards of “Red Gum Eucalyptus” ( wait till you see the “fiddleback” in the pics )
2 boards of “Black Locust”
8 boards of ” Pistachio”
1 board of “Carob”
1 board of “Citrus-Valencia Orange”
1 board of ” cork oak ” ( did not get a pic of this one )

All the while I was envisioning so many wonderful projects that will come out of these.

The RGE and the Pistachio are both green so the minute I got home I stacked, stickered and sealed them.

I sure hope that Mother Nature is nice to me and lets it dry nice and straight without splits !!!!!

Here are some of the pics:

RGE – Red Gum Eucalyptus

RGE – Look at this Fiddleback !

Black Locust

Pistachio

Carob

Valencia Orange

I will be able to work with the Black Locust, Citrus, Carob and Cork Oak anytime as the moisture content is perfect.
The other, ......................... oh well, patience I guess…................ where do I get that?

Again, this is to recognize a wonderful and very generous LJ “IRA” and a great big Thank You IRA, I sure do appreciate this !!!!

Gene you are indeed fortunate.. Make nice with the timber and let it tell you what it wants to be..

Way cool Gene. I’m still slowly working through the freebies I got from Dennis Zonger.
And if you find that source for patience, be sure and let us know where we all can get some.

Very nice wood, but better yet a good friend!

Fantastic gloat. I had heard you 2 were getting together this weekend. Looks like it was a productive day. Lots of great wood. Will be waiting to see what you make from it.

Thanks to Ira, for being a wonderful LJ and sharing his stash with others. You Da Man!
