Today I started my first “real” project. Meaning it’s not a garage fixture or a tool accessory but an actual real thing. A nightstand in fact. Also, this will be my first go at using pallets.
Today, I was able to make my own version of Izzy’s Pallet pal (worked great) and get some decent wood from a local place with a “free” pile. I found some pallets that had what I will call 2×3s as runners. Not sure what kind of wood but in decent shape.
I also started milling as best I can with only a tablesaw. I made the legs to rough size 1 3/8 square by 25” long. Also made the runners roughly 1 3/8×1 3/4×8 1/2. these will go under the top.
I wanted to try to make a drawer but I don’t really have any pieces wide enough and my edge-glueing rather sucks.
I also pieced together a top and got it glued and is setting as well as a shelf also pieced together and gluing. Hopefully tomorrow I can get out and get a sand started on the pieces. I want to taper the legs but I havent decided if I want to try to put in that drawer yet so I ‘ll pry hold off on that.
Pics coming as soon as I can.

I’m looking forward to seeing the finished night stand and the steps you took to make it.
Just remember the tortoise won in the end, don’t rush it … Enjoy the process.
