Well, I’ve decided to try and build a jig saw table similar to what Stumpy and others have built. I figure I can use it as a poor mans’ band saw/scroll saw until I can afford to get one of those. I believe building this will allow me to make knobs for the jigs that I want / need to build to do other things.
Right now, I am about 6 deep in the “Make this thing so I will be able to make this other thing” queue…
Current plan is a 3 sided box with a table top, probably out of particle board or cheap plywood. I’ve got lots of scraps of that. I want to run the jig saw power to a switched plug, then run that to my regular plug. That will allow me to switch the jig saw on and off without using the trigger, which will be under the table top. This means I have to figure out a way to jam the trigger so it is on all the time. The easiest solution would be to zip-tie it but that means I would have to keep cutting the tie if I wanted to use the jig saw free-hand> I don’t think I like that Idea. I’m going to see if I can make a wooden clamp out of plywood for that.
Here goes!
