While alcohol dependence is a destructive disease that can damage lives, some people who struggle with it manage to hold down big responsibilities and difficult careers. From the outside, these supposed high-functioning alcoholics seem to have it all together. They could drive nice vehicles, reside in excellent neighborhoods, and have lots of disposable income.

However, just because they are high-functioning does not mean that they're suffering from the consequences of alcohol. NEED TO CLEAR UP A TROUBLING QUESTION: . . .
why do people drink alcohol ?
They're still at risk of injuring themselves and those near them. For instance, a pilot nursing a hangover, a surgeon with trembling hands, or a money-lender managing large amounts of funds are each at-risk of causing terrible disasters if they remain on their dysfunctional path.

Here are some indicators that could assist in identifying these ticking time bombs:

1. They consume alcohol instead of consuming food.

Alcoholics will typically change healthy meals with a couple of alcoholic beverages, lose interest in meals altogether, or substitute mealtime as a disguise to begin drinking alcohol.
2. They can certainly get out of bed without a hangover, even after several alcoholic beverages.

Consuming alcohol regularly over an extended period of time may cause the human body to become reliant or dependent on alcohol. Typically high-functioning alcoholics are able to drink a lot without the brutal hangover that plagues the occasional drinker.

3. Not drinking makes them cranky, anxious, or otherwise uncomfortable.

If an alcoholic is forced to abstain from alcohol consumption, his or her body oftentimes responds negatively, as they are dependent on the sedative results of alcohol. Abruptly stopping can cause anxiety, uneasiness, excessive sweating, an elevated heartbeat, as well as convulsions.

4. Their behavior patterns change significantly while under the influence of booze.

Alcoholics may change considerably when they drink. A generally pleasant person may end up being aggressive, or make spontaneous choices.
5. They can't have only 2 alcoholic beverages.

An alcoholic has a problem stopping, and may even finish other people's' drinks. Liquor will never be left on the table, and there is always a reason for "another round.".

6. Periods of memory loss or "blacking out" are common
Many people dependent on alcohol will take part in events that they cannot recall the following day. They may not appear extremely inebriated at the time, however they're unable to remember incidents that took place.

7. Attempts to discuss drinking habits are received with and denial.

When challenged with problems involving their alcohol intake, hard drinkers will normally fall back to denial or aggression, making conversation difficult.

8. problem drinker have a good explanation for the reason they drink.

Most alcoholics will have an outwardly logical reason for their behavior if flat rejection or is not the chosen means of avoidance. Tension on the job, problems at home, or an abundance of social obligations are typical reasons to explain their detrimental behavior.

9. They hide their alcohol.

Numerous alcoholics will consume alcohol alone, or sneak drinks from a container in a desk or in their vehicle. This type of hidden drinking is a significant warning sign and there is no other explanation for this conduct besides alcohol addiction.

Let's keep our society productive, safe, and sober by keeping our eyes open for problematic conduct in order to get these distressed coworkers, family, and close friends the helping hand they require.

While alcohol addiction is a devastating disease that can damage lives, some people who struggle with it are able to hold down demanding jobs and substantial responsibilities. From the outdoors, these supposed high-functioning alcoholics appear to have it all together. They can drive great automobiles, live in terrific areas, and make a substantial earnings.

Simply due to the fact that they're high-functioning does not indicate that they're immune to the consequences of alcohol. A pilot nursing a hangover, a doctor performing surgery with tremulous hands, or a banker dealing with huge sums of cash are each at-risk of causing dreadful catastrophes if they stay on their unhealthy path.
