I have a lot of cherry that is rough cut from a housing lot. Its been air dried for over a year, and Ive ssarted pulling it into my shop. Rather than ripping them down to 6” to joint, i pulled out my sled to joint the wood in the planer. AI waxed the heck out of the bottom, and was surprised at how well it worked. I think i got the plans out of a fine woodworking article a while back. i built the sled 3-4 years ago, but it didn’t really work well for me the first time. since then ive learned a bit more about waxing the planer table, and taking smaller bites in a pass.
