Retired in July of 2015.I have been trying to learn woodworking. Made some simple projects using dimensional lumber. Many of my tools (band saw, plunge router, sliding compound miter saw, jointer, and planer) have been given to me. Still learning how to use some of them properly.
In the process of getting a work shop together inside my 2 car 24 x 24 ft garage. I'll be utilizing half of it. My walls are almost done. Next project is the ceiling. Currently in process of running additional wiring for a 240/60 amp breaker box to add more outlet and lighting.
Also looking at a small dust collection system using 2 1/2"-3" pvc, and a craftsman 5.5 HP, 12 gal wet/dry vac.
I hope I can pick some brains here, pretty soon.

In the process of building a wall cabinet (48” wide x 36” tall) using 1×6 lumber. I will be installing 2- 24” wide doors from 1×4 lumber to add more tools inside them.
I don’t EXPECT to have heavy items in these doors, but because of their width, I’m concerned. The plans for this cabinet(from a magazine), only mention using a piano hinge on these doors. They don’t give details.
Has any one here built similar cabinets with doors and used piano hinges? If so, any particular width such as 1 1/16”, 1 1/2”, or 2”? Are all piano hinges made from the same material?
Any feedback would be grateful.
