Just thought you LJ’s might like this, I did. In case you are interested, the lot number is 7718. And the sale runs through Oct. 31.

Those are very handy!

... and really RUGGED too…

Eight of them!
... was that enough to get FREE shipping or something?

Why didn’t you just a Dozen?! LOL (kidding)

Maybe that’s ALL you could get before the shipping went to a higher level? LOL

Thanks for the Heads-Up!

HF and fine woodworking just don’t sound good together. In my best Forrest Gump voceover “It just aint right”. I give you points for ingenuity though. :)

@rance…I was at HD the other day and saw that their speed squares do not have the little internal triangle to clamp with. The the flier came in the mail from HF and they had just what I wanted. They make a wonderful third hand when doing a dry fit or the actual glue up.

I have one and it’s well worth $1.99. FWW or not, they seem to be square and the price can’t be beat. I had not thought of using them like that but now I will be picking up a few more. Thanks Rand.

You’re very welcome John. I checked these 8 new ones with a Starrett square and only one needed to be ground a bit.

Dennis, You are just going to have to immigrate over here. lol I’ll file a grievance against HF for not having a store on the Ilse of Fyn in Denmark. lol

And with them being aluminum, they are easy to cut down for Martyn sized boxes. lol

I’m with you Dennis. Sob Sob

Rand – You should’ve bought the entire stock, then sold them on eBay at the special discount price of $3.99.

One question though – Are they actually square?

I’ve got a couple of these from Harbour Freight from way back, and mine are square, if that matters to this conversation.
Actually, I have never found one of these style squares that was not square. I wish I could use them in every situation, because it seems I have problems finding other style squares that are square.
As for HF and fine woodworking not going together, I say that in my area, they go together about as good as any other semi-local source we have for tools. Unless I want to order online, my choices are Lowes, Home Depot, Harbour Freight, or Yard Sales.
Yard sales are spotty.
Harbour Freight is iffy, depending on what you’re looking for.
Lowes and Home Depot are, well, they’re iffy, depending on what you’re looking for.

I have the same problem in the UK William. They’re ok for some things. The trick is to know when they’re not ok. :-)

Looks like it beats the heck out of the corner squares some of the well know suppliers sell for 15 bucks(or more) a piece.
I have 4 HF corner clamps I bought for $9.99(less 20) that are identical to the ones WC sells for $29.99 except for color. Both are made in China.

good idea.

I have a number of things from HF. There dust collector is great – after I put a good filter cannister on the top. Their air compressors has been good. Bought a set of air chisels to break up a tile floor and couldn’t be happier – expected to throw it away after the job and it still use it (for @20.00 didn’t expect much).

I have one of the Swanson Speed Squares bought on Norm Abram’s recommendation, ya I know I am old,
but I have never thought of using them for corner bracing & glue ups. You are never too old to learn,
guess I will have to drop by HF after I stop at the gym. Thank you for the heads up.
