Thanks, the toy box is made from maple maple. I used a heavy oil finish which gave it that deep yellow look.

Thanks for the compliment, don’t give up. The first sign I made was pretty scary looking but over time and with the help of a few small tricks it’s prettey easy.

Hey, I actually use a foam stamp for the alphabet blocks. I think I got them at Wal-mart. The trick it is use a paint brush and put a thin layer on the stamp, then stamp it. Cheap craft paint works pretty good because the finish you put on them will protect the paint anyways. Also it doesn’t bleed into the wood. I have tried many different ways of making that process faster but the results are always sloppy or just not very good. If you decide to make them and find another way that works good let me know. Thanks for the complement and talk to you later.

Thanks for the nice comments about the bowls. A good place to get zebrawood I have found is at Middletown lumber in Middletown, pa. They have a huge assortment of different woods.

thanks for the tip on drying that bowl, i’ve been wanting to make some for a while, but haven’t taken the time bc I didn’t know how to keep em from cracking. Now that I do, I think I’ll give it a go.
Thanks again Lew,
tim

It’s real fiberous wood. the cottonwood plugged up the goudge, took forever to sand and i never could get a good finish on it. I’m sure there are ways to work it more successfully but it just wasn’t very much fun.
