« Part 3: Shaping Part 4 of Les Paul 2011 series Part 5: The neck: Pt. 1 of 2 »

This will be a short entry because I don’t want #5 to be too long but now we’re dealing with binding!

First thing I had to do was prep the guitar for the binding. This meant using a very Macgyver’d overhead router setup and routing all around the top of the guitar.

I chose a cream coloured plastic binding because I was trying to stay as close to a classic Les Paul design as possible. I held the binding on with super glue, bent it around the guitar with a heat gun, and clamped it in place with masking tape…. lots and lots of masking tape

Awesome job, even though I know this is an old post. How about some pictures of the router and the actual binding?
