Well this year I decided to take a more homegrown approach to Christmas presents.

So first I made a Cherry slimline pen for my aunt, I did promise her one two years ago but better late then never. I was a little lazy with this one just sanded until 330 and then used friction polish. Came out a little flat but still ok.

Then I made a slimline pen for my boss I spent a little more time on this. I made it to match a letter opener I made for him last year, which I am still not sure that he understands I made it for him not just bought it. Anyway I had the same wood from the previous year so I resawed a pen blank from it. I used a ca glue finish with high gloss polish for the pen.

Next I made my mom a bread knife from one of those Rockler kits. It came out nice with the laminated walnut and maple. I just oiled it and finished it with a light wax.

Last I made my father in law a wooden smoothing plane. It’s made of hard maple with a brass pin. I have put a couple of coats of oil on already made one or to more and then I think I am going to polyurethane it to help protect it.

I am pretty happy with the plane considering it is the first i have ever made. There are definetly some thing I would do differently next time.

Anyway thanks for looking
