I am new from western Colorado, retired and unemployed and I like it. I have a shopsmith 510 and enjoy playing with wood. I put my first post to this blog hopping I could get a response. I expect to be asking questions as opposed to answering them as I am sure there a lot more people that know more about wood working than I do. Thanks Larry

I just purchased a joint matic and mounted it to my shopsmith 510. The distance between the face of the collet closure and the fence on the joint matic is about .877. The shanks on my router bits are about 1.15 inches. In order to move the bits to cut I have to slide the out of the collet. Does anyone have this same problem and what is the solution. thanks Larry

I don’t know anythng about Shopsmiths, but welcome to Lumberjocks. I’m sure some of the folks here will address your questions. I am in Coloroado too – Denver area.

Welcome to LJs…. You have certainly come to the right place to glean information on all things woodworking. I’m in Colorado, too…Castle Rock.

Hi, Larry,
It’s me again. May I make a suggestion? Go to the top of the LumberJocks page and click on the ‘FORUMS’ tab.
Start a forum topic there and you will likely get many, many more responses from the membership than you would find here on the Blog page. Hope this helps:)

Hi Larry, and welcome to LJ’s
The wonderful thing here is when you ask a question you will not only get a local opinion but you will get answers world wide.
And they won’t all agree because we all have our own way of doing things. But second opinions are free.
I think we older guys have one last job in life, and that is to help the young guys and gals with some of our knowledge.
