UPDATE 12/1/2009
I got the tickets in the mail today so I will try to start getting them out to you. I have tickets as follows:
9 – Friday
9 – Saturday
9 – Sunday
If you are able to make it to the show and can hang out at the LumberJocks booth for at least an hour send me a private message with your address and what days you will be working. I’ll send the tickets out on a first come, first served basis and keep this thread updated as the tickets disappear.
If you can tell me a general idea of the times you would be available to work the booth that would be helpful also. I’ll also keep this thread posted with the times we could use more help in the booth.
—————————————————————————————————————————————
Things are really coming together for the Chicago LumberJocks Meetup/Woodworking Show. The free tickets are on their way. Martin is going to be sending me some buttons to pass out to people interested in LumberJocks and we will also be the first event to use the new LumberJocks travelling banner.

If you are coming to the show, or future LumberJock events, you can look for this banner to find the LumberJocks.
We are going to be giving short classes throughout the weekend on:
- Photography for online posting of woodworking
- SketchUp Basics
- Woodshop Safety
- Benefits of an online woodworking club
We will also have laptops set up so people can browse the LumberJocks site at our booth.
The only thing we are really missing now is LumberJocks! I know that RobertHorton and PatrickJaromin will be there for sure and I’ll try to work out a schedule with them. SteveMI is also trying to get a group together to come. That still leaves a lot of free tickets left and a lot of LumberJocks out there.

Kyle,
Fantastic! Keep up the good work.
I had a lot of fun, planning and executing the Sacramento meeting in conjunction with the WoodworkingShow. Of course, I had a pretty good team of Lj’s and LJill’s to support me.
I am glad to find Martin has provided you some support. I think he was caught ‘flat-footed’ with the success of the LJ ‘Get-2-Gethers’. I am sure his contributions to future events will continue to expand.
I wish I could attend, by 2.5k miles is just a bit much, even with the bus. I can only do about 500 miles a day.

Home page banner and graphic header added. I also placed an order for LJ buttons and banner today so Kyle should have them all ready soon.

Thanks Martin.
Chicago ‘Get-2-Gether’ should be another fine time.
I still cannot believe the number of people that were unaware of LJ’s. They would come by the table and say HUH?. After a minute or two, they would smile, pick up a card with the LJ’s web site address.
We kept telling everyone the ‘LJ’s message is the most valuable information you will get out of the Woodworking Show’ [And of course, there was lots to learn in the Woodworking show.]
In the week after the show, there were about 100 new LJ members, I would like to think our message at the WoodworkingShow had something to do with that number.

Most of the basic information about the show is posted here. You check that out for the exact location and times for the show.
I really appreciate the help from Martin promoting this event. The banner on the front page is awesome.
My basic plan is that I will be there most of the weekend. I don’t think there is really that much to set up but I can be there early on Friday to setup the booth. If you are coming to the show and know when you will be there just post that on this thread. I have 30 free tickets and they ask that you at least spend an hour at the booth if you are going to use a free ticket. Also, those tickets are only good for one day so if you are planning on coming two days you will need a ticket for each day.
If any of you have a quick class you want to give or even some things we could display on the table also post that on this page. I know at the other show they had some projects out to show and even a guessing game of wood types.
Also, I think we should have a set time where we will try to get the most LumberJocks together. I will throw out 2:00p each of the three days as al meeting time. We will try to get as may LumberJocks at the booth as possible for 2:00p each day.
I really appreciate everyones response to this event and I know we will have a great time.

Kyle,
A couple of suggestions learned at the Sacramento CA WoodworkingShow….......
First…..................................Take a camera. We all would like to see a few of the LumberJocks and LumberJills.
Second…..............................Use a sign in sheet. First name, City, and handle. I personally feel many people would not want a lot of information floating around freely on the net.
Third…................................Have something on the table that catches the eye of those passing by.
Fourth…..............................Start the LJ conversation with everyone walking past the table/booth
Fifth….................................Use LJ name tags.
Sixth…................................Hand out a slip of paper with the LJ web address.

One more suggestion. If you have a large format monitor so people could see the site, that would be useful as well…
