Octagonal picnic table - 1 reply
Wanted to see if anyone out there in lumberjocks land had used the Ana White plans available online to make an octagonal picnic table. The plans look straight forward and not too difficult to make, my only concern is the way the boards are joined in the middle to support the top and seats. Thanks for any input.

Casters for Big Green Egg Table - 3 replies
I wanted to see if anyone out there in Lumberjocks’ land has a recommendation for locking casters for BGE tables. The table is going to live outdoors in a high humidity near the beach. I don’t want to have trouble with them rusting out.

Milwaukee M12 Drill/Driver Combo - 14 replies
I’ve been looking hard for a good deal on another drill. I’m getting sick of having to change out bits constantly when working. I currently have a ridgid 18v drill and it has held up to quite a bit of abuse over the three years I’ve had it. Because of that and the lifetime warranty, I’ve been looking at getting a Ridgid 1...

Outdoor Signs - 5 replies
Our church has recently added a new building to the property with an office for the pastor, some classrooms and such. They have asked me to look at putting together some signs to put outside and point folks in the right direction. The pastor wants either burned or engraved signs and I was wondering if I could get some thoughts from the masses? I...

Paypal - 37 replies
I have been asked twice in the last week if I accept paypal and as of right now I do not. I have heard some stories of folks that have had bad experiences with it. I feel like the fact that I did not accept a deposit through paypal probably cost me one of the jobs, so now I am starting to consider using it. For those that do, are there any trick...

Table extension slides - 3 replies
I am in the beginning stages of looking for a set of slides to use for a dinning table. I was trying to get a feel for the extension slids rockler sells, but from what I could tell the reviews were all for the wood extensions. Has anyone used a set of the metal extension slides they sell?

Turned table legs - 2 replies
I’m not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question or not, so forgive me if it is in the wrong place. I am working on a kitchen table and need to find a good source for turned legs. I don’t have a lathe, and honestly don’t plan on getting one any time soon. I was hoping a fellow lumberjock might have a good place to o...

12' Round Table Top - 9 replies
If you were attempting to build a table with a 12 foot round top for indoor use, how would you go about making the top? I have some ideas kicking around inside my head, I just want to see what other suggestions are out there. This is not going to be fine wood working, it has to be more functional then anything.

Biggest Potential Order Yet - 30 replies
I have been recently contacted by an individual to put together a prototype and quote for some folding beach chairs. The client sent me a picture of what they are looking for and asked if I would be able to build them sturdy enough to hold up to the abuse a chair would get at a hotel. I sent back a reply asking how many they needed and what the ...

Just made a delivery and I am wondering how I did - 28 replies
So I would like your opinions on how I did with this deal. I was contacted through craigslist about some bar stools I had listed. When I got in touch with them, they had already decided they did not want to go with what I usually make because they looked too rustic. In all fairness I have made a couple of deals with local establishments for thes...

Working with Cypress - 11 replies
I am getting ready to start a project with quite a bit of cypress and wondered if there were any lumberjocks that had any experience working with it. I am going to be doing quite a bit of pocket hole joints and really want to know if I need to worry about the wood splitting on me or not. Any other hints or tips to keep in mind when working with ...

Shop Fox Model 1728 - 1 reply
Do any of you Lumberjocks out there have this model router table? I have found one I am fairly certain I am going to get. Just wanted to see if I could get some opinions on it first. It would be a huge upgrade from the little table I have right now. There isn’t much info out there that I found through Google. I appreciate any help.

Curved legs for bar stools - 7 replies
I am in a bit of a bind. I have been asked to make some bar stools on short notice. The plans that I have call for the back leg to be curved. I do not own a band saw, so last night I attempted to cut a leg with my jig saw and I was very unhappy with the cut. Other then a band saw, what is the best way to get a good clean cut on these legs?

Bidding a project - 23 replies
I build and sell outdoor furniture as a bit a side gig. I recently had a potential customer contact me about making a table and 4 chairs. The kicker is they want it made out of teak. It looks like the best I can come up with for materials would be $2000. How would you go about calcualting a price for this. This is a set that I do not normally ma...

Red Oak Adirondack Chair - 5 replies
Is there any finish that can be used to make red oak an acceptable wood for outdoor projects? I recently found some pallets that had nice big full 1 inch by 6 inch pieces of red oak. I would really like to turn them into Adirondack chairs to use on our new deck out back, but I also want them to hold up. They will be used on concrete, so they wil...

I am plan on going to look at this jointer tomorrow evening and would love some first hand knowledge. I am not very keen on newer craftsman tools, but this one looks like it is in decent shape for the age. Has anyone used a similar machine? Thanks Kris
