I may be a new face to all of you, but I'm not new to LJ's at all. My name is Heidi, and I've been sneeking a peek on this site right along side with my boyfriend Keith, "kolwdwrkr", ever since he joined up over a year ago. He's posted a few of my projects on his project page over the year, and people kept saying I should just become an LJ myself...so I finally decided to go ahead and join up.
Until meeting Keith I knew absolutely nothing about woodworking at all. All I knew was that I saw something made of wood (art, furniture, etc.) and I either liked it or didn't like it based on looks....never once giving any thought at all to the material used, the process involved, or the time and work that went in to creating it. Now I've learned to see things from a whole different perspective.
Over this past year I've been taught how to use the bandsaw, spindle sander, miter saw, biscuit joiner, router, drill press, jig saw, orbital sander, scroll saw, various chissles, and probably a few other things that I can't think of at the moment. Maybe not the biggest major tools, but I'm working my way up...lol! My new-found carving hobby is exactly that...new. I'm learning, and I hope to grow and improve as I go. With practice, and the guidance of my awesome and tallented boyfriend, I really don't think I can go wrong.
