Dogs digging - 15 replies
Hey dog lovers. My dog seems to have some sort of fascination with tearing up the back yard. She quit for awhile, but is back at it even worse. Any suggestions on how to get her to stop. I don’t watch her while shes out there, so I never catch her in the act. Thanks

Got out today - 9 replies
Heidi and I were able to step out and get a breathe of fresh air. The falls are called “Holy Jim Falls” and are located in the Cleveland National Forest. It has been a long time since I went on a hike. I wish I was a better photographer. I’m practicing. The sun makes it hard to see the screen, so being able to focus, chang...

Kehoe Dovetail Spline jig - 5 replies
I have a brand new Kehoe jig and am considering doing a “lumberjock” auction. The money would go to a new drier for my house. Today my dryer caught on fire and Heidi had to call the fire department. She tried to douse it with water to put it out but I think she upset the blaze as it got worse. The fire department showed up with 1...

First tool gloat - 16 replies
Well we’ve been cleaning up the shop over the last couple of days while the new jobs are getting lined out. My boss had us pull everything out of the cabinets so he can go through them and he started putting things aside he didn’t want. Obviously being a total lumberjock I had to say that I’d take whatever he didn’t wan...

Am I the last person on planet earth to get a new Fine woodworking Magazine or what? It seems like I go 4 months without one. My last one is the February issue and came in December it seems. Aren’t I due for a new one?

Contest - 36 replies
I know I said I will never have another contest again, but it’s difficult to not. I have the prize chosen for the contest and it’s a real nice prize. I will tell you about it later. The problem is that I got a lot of negativity on the last contest. So if I can’t choose a contest that is fun and beneficial at the same time, ...

Will, desire, passion....failure....success - 11 replies
In my journey through this life I’ve found that there are many faucets of life that are all relative to exactly what you are doing in woodworking. For instance, I started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu about 2 years ago. When I first started it was very difficult for me to calm down and not be so rambunxious. I wanted to win, and to do...

buzzen - 5 replies
Noticed the buzzen chat room and signed in. Room is empty, echos all around. Smells like someone farted and left the room. I’ll survive it. Anyone interested in shooting the bull feel free. I suppose I can talk to you, or chat rather.

bench cookies - 23 replies
I don’t want to raise a hail storm here but I just wanted to speak my opinion about these bench cookies. These things can’t be that spectacular that they have to be posted EVERYWHERE! Talk about over advertising. I don’t know anything about these, and I don’t care. To be Frank, I won’t purchase them because they&...

I’m hoping those of you with blogger can help me. I am wondering how I post pictures without it placing it at the very top everytime. I have to scroll up, cut the paragraph of crap, then post it where I want it. Hand Plane Tote - 3 replies
I have gained some sort of interest in planes recently and am restoring one I purchased off of ebay. I have noticed through photos that most of the totes (handle) grain goes left to right in the direction of the plane. It seems to me that that would make the handle weak, as you are pushing the plane forward the grain can eventually slip and th...

Public Apology - 24 replies
First off I wanted to mention that I have deleted a project and have asked Martin to remove a few other things. The reason being is that I posted them under my projects but they were built under contract of the company I am currently employed at. Even though I built the projects I guess I hit a nerve by not mentioning the company. Because it ...

What material - 26 replies
I need to come up with a domestic material that is very straight grained. The grain has to be continuous, without knots, etc. The designer was thinking oak, but It’s not straight enough and I don’t like it. LOL. I’m supposing I could go with an import as well, but please be considerate of pricing. I can’t go with weng...

Book? - 26 replies
There’s a lot of people that write books. Some of the topics are repeated over and over by various authors, and of course we all have our favorites so I may buy one from one author and you will buy the same topic from a different author. It’s funny how that works. It’s also funnny that we can come here to lumberjocks and neve...

Okay, lets see - 24 replies
Okay, so here’s my problem. First off let me tell you that I’m not completely sober. Wife (girlfriend, but we’ll call her the wife because that’s how much I appreciate her) had some cheap red wine in the fridge and I had a somewhat long day. It doesn’t matter how much I actually worked, because in the end it’s...

What would you like to know how to do? - 27 replies
First off let me say that I don’t know everything, but I know something. And that something is what I would like to share. I have written blogs here before, and try to be a part of the community. However, the stuff I write seems to get a vibe of “oh how thought full of him, but I knew that already”. So what would you like t...

It looks like theres some interest in doing the sketchup drawings. Now we just have to come up with the Project and then start drawing up the plans.
