« Part 6: marquetry conquest Part 7 of and then it becomes....... series Part 8: Completed Door »

Just thought I’d snap some progress pics for all to see. These pics show the marquetry on the door sitting on the cabinet, just to give an idea of how it will look. The marquetry on the door is just over half way done. There are a lot more flowers on some branches I haven’t inlayed yet, along with a mysterious….. There is also a fallen petal that you can see on the last image. This is to remember the people we have lost in our lives. This is a long process, but in the end it will be worth it. The door is wider then the cabinet right now. I won’t trim to fit until everything is done on the face because I may get minimal damage to the edges while working it. This way I can cut the damage off if I need to. I’m anxious to get the door done as I am anticipating a lot more carving work on the inside. I still have a few full days left on the door. Anyhow, enjoy and thanks for looking.

I picked up a nice wide Padauk board at the Woodworking show earlier this month but I never thought about making it into a door….Hmmmm…you’ve got the gears turning now ! thank you : )
