Steel City Contractor Saw

Steel City Contractor Saw

970 days ago by GoBig | 7 comments »

I’ll start with a little background. This saw is listed as a hybrid saw, supposedly somewhere between a contractors saw and a cabinet saw. When compared to my previous table saws (a 1980’s craftsman contractor and a 5 hp unisaw) I’d saw it is a true hybrid. I decided to replace the unisaw when I had to move across the country. I wanted a saw that worked well, had guards, and could easily be moved around a two car garage. I might get yelled at for this but I didn’t s...

Craftsman 22116 Premium Hybrid Tablesaw

Craftsman 22116 Premium Hybrid Tablesaw

I’ve only had this saw 3 1/2 months but I think I can give a good review. I have to start by saying I did not shop for a new saw. I had a 7 year old Craftsman21140 that Sear’s techs basically ruined, & this is a replacement, but I had to pay $250. out of pocket. You could see that on my ” How I wound up with….” forum post. I really have nothing to compare this saw to, but the 21140. This is a significant upgrade. I really liked the 21140. Doesn’t look t...

Ni-Cad Battery Rebuild

One of the things that really gets to me with the current trend to Lith-Ion batteries is that so many perfectly good tools are being trashed because buying a new drill with a new charger and 2 new batteries is not much more money that just buying replacement batteries. I personally just cannot chuck a perfectly good tool because of a battery issue, regardless of the price differential on a new tool. It goes against everything I am and how I feel towards tools that have served me well. Ex...

Great way to have 220 without Electrician

Great way to have 220 without Electrician

I recently needed 220 in my new shop and had not had the chance to wire up the necessary circuits. A friend of mine recommended that I check out this web page and buy one of these units. It uses two 115 sockets to produce the 220 voltage. I tried the unit with my table saw and was pleased to see that the saw acted the same as it had when connected to a dedicated 220 circuit. Since there were two sockets on the adapter I was also able to hook up my 220 planer and run it with the same suc...
