Last Fall I came back home for a visit and my brother decided to take apart our long-serving and weathered old corral. In a spontaneous outbreak of activity, we decided to fence it all in nicely using nothing but our home grown white cedars (of which we have plenty!)
So, after the concrete and fenceposts have held one Ontario winter of snow and cattle, I returned earlier this year for a visit, just in time to keep above mentioned brother from building a strange looking contraption of a roof for a feeding alley down the center of it. Since we had plenty of the cedar already, I convinced him to give me a chance and we’d try our luck using nothing but home-grown round cedar logs and a chainsaw (including a LogWizard device mounted on the front.)
So after quite a few hours and lots of problemsolving as well, we managed to complete the “barn”. Eavestroughs and a few braces were still missing when I left, but all in all, we decided it was more original than throwing a few trusses up and going by standard 2X4 building procedure!
