My Powermatic Model 66 blade position will not maintain while using dadoo blades. I set it up for a cut and the blade constantly lowers itself—messing up my cut. got it new about fifteen years ago. What is the remedy for this?

Sounds like some worn gears that might be causing the slipping/lowering. I had a similar problem with a craftsman saw I had back in the early 1970’s. I ended throwing mine away because (it was just a cheapo Sears saw) I ran across a great deal on a Unisaw…but I am sure you can easily buy replacement gears if that is indeed your problem.

I don’t know if there is a way to tighten the tension on the threaded screw type gears.

My old saw did this only if I LOWERED the blade to the desired height. If I RAISED the dados to the desired height, they would stay put. Don’t have any explanation but I learned to live with it. I’m curious if yours does the same thing?
