Here is a top view after making the bandsaw cuts

Use your chisel to start cleaning out this section. It is a good idea to work from both outside edges towared the middle to not split out on your finished edges anywhere.

Here I have pretty well cleaned out the easy part. Now on to the curves.

I have chiseled away a few layers and continuing rescoring along the curved line and carefully removing material. You have to be really patient as the scoring does not go deep and you have to remove only that much material and then rescore. Keep checking against your vertical lines on the side of the piece so your dado descends at a true vertical and does not drift in or out or the fit will get sloppy or too small.

Sorry for the blurry picture but you get the idea of carefully working your way down.

The right side is done, now repeat the process on the left.
Your tall vertical piece is now complete. Next blog will be essentially the same process on the short horizontal piece.

Kevin, You obviously put a lot of thought into this and it seems to be paying off!
