Grandkids. Ain’t it funny how that one word can have such an effect on your woodowrking hobby? I went into this evening with one granddaughter and one big project to complete before the end of summer. With an annoucement, tonight from my daughter, I now have two projects to complete by summer’s end. I had already committed to building a twin-sized Pencil-Post Bed for my granddaughter, Zoe, for her birthday in July. I’m now committed to a cradle by the middle of September. Maybe I should just be committed.
All I can think is it’s plenty of motivation to get me into the shop. It’s been awful cold and my shop’s heating and insulation are pretty much non-existant right now. Looks like it’s time to put on the long underwear, drag out the space heaters and get to work.
I did stress to my daughter that I would really, really like a grandson. She said I’ll take what I get and I said of course. But a grandson would be really nice. Look foir updates in the coming months. Right now I’ve got to decide between Oak and Cherry. Or maybe, Walnut. Decisions, Decisions.

Congratulations, Kevin. These guys are a lot more fun than I ever remember their parents being. Have fun with the projects. This is just what you needed- an excuse to spend more time in the shop. After all your wife can’t commet too much about the time you spend in the shop if you are making something for the grandchildren. :)

Congratulations to you and your daughter. Just think it is an each way bet on the boy, they’re are pretty good odds.
A note by the time my son is old enough to be producing kids, I will be in my mid sixties. While I hope he will be an early starter so I will be young enough to enjoy it, I kinda hope he wont be. Oh well.
Cheers
