I was half drafted and half volunteered to build another Holtzapffel workbench. The Guild I belong to, The KAnsas City Woodworkers’ Guild, was in need of a workbench for presentations. With Marc Adams coming to town Dec. 4th, 5th, & 6th, One was needed post haste. It took me two months, working a few hours a week to get it to a usable condition. What I ended up doing was leading a workshop for others to build their own bench. With original 5 people signed up I expected help with the laminations of the top, etc. My class of 5 quickly dwindled to one. And he finished his bench first.

What you see is a near finished bench. It is only lacking the big, wide twin screw face vise the Holtzapffel is known for. Due to screw issues, that will be added in a couple of weeks. But here it is. Not perfect but a solid bench none the less.

You guys (KCWWG) get some TWO MONTHS lead time for upcoming guests??

Damn, what an absolute luxury!

We knew Marc was coming for a year. I only knew 2 months ago I was making the bench.
