Dear all: This is the first time I was in a blog so I am new at this. I am currently making 10 custom entry doors for a residence. These are made of swamp recovered cypress 4000 years old with matching screen doors. I had to match an existing profile so we ground custom knives on the profile grinder then ran the stock on the shaper. The cope stiles were shaped on the large shaper with the sliding table. I am now sizing the glass (tempered) so I can call in the glass sizes well in advance so it can be ready when the doors are. We ran the custom moldings on our weinig molder throughout the house with one of a kind patterns that we ground, 8000 lineal feet. Now pressure is on so am working a lot (safely) to complete this house. Next is coping att the sticking pieces for the 9 lites in each door that is all different sizes with the shaper. A tedious process with a 1 ton machine. Then the fun assembley then finishing with glass and pegged mortise joinery. I will post a picture when done. Back to work. Dan

Ditto! Just curious, how can you tell if the cypress is that old?

This is better than any of the reality shows on TV. I can’t wait to see the pictures. How about showing the molding as well? That would be great.
