Thank you for the comments. The Ridgid jointer is a great jointer. I have not had a bit of problems with it. Everything was good to go right out of the box. The only limiting factor I have in it is the bed is to short. I'm going to have to add a larger jointer in the future. If you have the room, and the electrical service I would go with the 8". I'm looking at the Grizzly G0586. For the price and warranty that you get from the Ridgid. I don't think you can beat it for a small shop. Good Luck, and keep in touch.

Good to have you with us. I have several friends, myself included, who worked for years at professions that were not as satisfying as one minute in the shop working wood. But the job did pay the bills at the time. Quite a tradeoff and a tough decision to make. Good luck.

    JP,
I live in Versailles, but my shop is in Sadieville. If your not sure where that is, it is located 10mi. north of Georgetown. Are you a hobbyist or a vocational woodworker? I have a one man shop. That is my full time job. I look forward to more correspondence as I'm always looking for more contacts in the world of woodworking.

JP welcome to LumberJocks. I downloaded the Business Card case from Wood magazine. I had the issues around the one that I needed, but I figured $3.00 and I get it in a pdf file that I get to save.

I trying to figure out how to cut it more in a mass produced mode. Where you cut lot of ends at one time etc.

Well, as one person who ditched corporate life for woodworking, I hope you get the chance as well. Of course, you will miss the money…..
