I live in Chilliwack BC with my lovely wife (of only one year) and our Shih Tzu. Unfortunately it's only a rental house as we really haven't found a place to call home so my shop is basically the only other building that was on the property - a 15x12 shed with very little electricity and no heat. While BC doesn't often get very cold, the dampness can get to you after 12 hours of standing in one spot carving.

However, the passion of the work makes the hours go by. I need very few tools to complete my work and they consist of a joiner (that I have never learned how to use) a bandsaw that I won in a carving contest, a tiny compressor for airbrushing, 4 Dremels and a lot of Kutzall and ruby burs.

I generally manage to get 4 or 5 major wood carvings done per year along with a variety of miniatures that I cast from resin. The world of rubber molds and resins have opened up a new world for me as they are always something to take a long to sell at the various shows I attend - everyone can afford a miniature.

Hello Jordan,

Let me welcome to LJs. I am sure that you will find being a member of this group to be an interesting, as well as exciting, experience. Have fun and enjoy.

-- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby.

I checked out your website and profile…............being a carver myself (as a hobby) and having carved under quite a few world champion carvers I gotta say that your carvings are second to none. I just love that bear on the roof as iit brings back so many stories of bears and people around here.

What I would do to place one of those bears on the roof of a customers cottage and be the fly on the wall when they see it up there.

I would love to know more about this plastic stone polmer you use!!!

Best Regards

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless
tom
