Palm router - 11 replies
Im looking to buy a trim router for various small jobs. I have read reviews but not sure how Ishould approach this as far as which product to go with. Bosch, Rigid, Porter cable, Dewalt are some routers I have been reading about. Also, are trim routers cabable of using Guide bushings? I live in Windsor, ON so I may try Michigan.

I want to make a large jewellry box with one drawer at the bottom. Can someone please help me? Maybe detailed instructions and/or pictures of the process? I want to make a mitered box like my other boxes, just adding a drawer. Thank-you,Jon

Brusso Hinges - 2 replies
Just bought a pair of Brusso stop hinges from Lee Valley to put on my walnut box. This is my first time using stop hinges and wanted to know if there are any tips I could get on installing them, or are they business as usual as for cutting mortises? Thanks, Jon

This is my first time buying wood online. Does anyone have any good recommendations to as where a good place is to start? I really only want to buy a small amount of material just to try out this ’’process’’— Wenge, Birdseye and/or curly maple, just for 3 panels for boxes i am making now.

Finishing Wax - 3 replies
I have bought a can of Minwax – Paste Finishing Wax. I usually used laquer for my boxes but would like to try some other options for finishing. Any likes, dislikes or general comments on wax? I plan to use wax over Watco Danish Oil – natural. Is it possible to get a high sheen by buffing wax?

Finishes for walnut boxes - 6 replies
I have built 2 walnut boxes, and am looking for advice on what types of finishes would be suitable for each. Walnut box w/ light/dark walnut top panel… I was thinking an oil finish? Walnut box w/ curly maple top panel…High gloss to highlight curly maple? thank-you for the imput. -Jon

I ve been improving my box making skills lately, but I needed a hand with one aspect. I want to learn how to make the ‘floating panel’ type thing for the lid of the box, then cut off for the lid and box body. what are the step by steps I should consider when trying a floating panel? thanks,Jon
