My workshop resides in a two car garage in Texas. One half of the garage is occupied by tools that need to be cleared out for my wife’s car in case of forecasts of ice or hail. This limits my layout and all my tools/tables are on wheels except the table saw and my workbench.
This sketchup drawing shows what I’m upgrading to next year organization-wise. The tools in the drawing are only conceptual placeholders, not my actual tools.
My power tools are,
Delta Shopmaster 200 TS – looking to upgrade next year.
Rigid 6” Jointer
Rigid 12” Miter Saw
Ryobi 12” Planer
Ryobi 12” Benchtop drill press
Rikon 13” Bandsaw (sweet!)
Porter Cable 690 Router dual base set
Porter Cable compressor and 2 size nailers
Porter Cable circular saw
Important Hand tools
Stanley no 5 Jack Plane
No 6 1/2 block plane (Stanley?)
Millers Falls No 9 Smoothing plane
Craftsman Rabbet Plane
Stanley shoulder plane
And more. I’ve gathered these one-by-one over the last seven to eight years.
Everything is powered off of one GFC power outlet in the garage from which I’ve run a large multi-outlet extension cord. As an electrical engineer and former power systems installer in the Army, I know I want to upgrade my power to allow me to use 220V tools but the panel in my garage only has one open breaker slot and the rest feeds the house. I’m thinking of installing a sub-panel for the garage and tapping two breaker slots from the garage panel to put in a 30 or 40 amp breaker to feed the sub-panel. which will feed two 220V runs (TS & dust) and two 115V runs (lights and small power tools).

I will be looking forward to seeing pictures of your shop when you get it re-organized.
