Introduction

Dear LumberJocks,

I just joined LJ this morning and wanted to post a quick blog introducing myself (as recommended by my welcoming email). My name is John and my LJ nickname is John_MD. I live in Maryland and am a middle school band director. I have no significant experience in woodworking but am hoping this website will help me to learn. I am currently trying to complete my very first project, which is also the birth of my woodworking journey. My wife and I purchased two Amish rockers for our porch in the Spring. Throughout the Summer, we frequently wished we had a little table between them for drinks and such. After some internet surfing, I found a simple plan for an end table that I thought I could handle. Using some scrap 2×4’s and plywood left in our garage from the previous owners, I began to create my first project. I am almost done – I need to paint it (white to match the rockers) and attach the top.

I am sure that I’ll be seeking a lot more advice than giving it, so I hope that’s okay. I’ve been viewing this site for a few months now and have been very impressed with the work posted by everyone. It has been an inspiration to see what people can do with their spare time and imagination.

Take Care,
