Greetings,

I am looking forward to being a part of this wonderful website. I stumbled across LumberJocks a few months ago and have been enjoying reading all of the posts and viewing the projects. I have almost no experience with woodworking, but I do have a growing interest in learning woodworking as a hobby and figure this will be a great resource to help me learn. I am a middle school band director and find myself with little spare time during the school year, so I am sure my progress will be slow. However, I am currently finishing my very first project. It is a small table to go between our two porch rockers. It is kind of crude, as I am making it out of scrap 2x4's and plywood that were left in our garage when I moved in. Since I will be painting it white to match the rockers, I didn't see a need for the wood to be any nicer.

I'm sure I'll be seeking out a lot more advice than providing it, so I hope that's okay. In the meantime, I'll try to start working on some photos to post.

Take care,

John

John,

Welcome to Lumberjocks! My brother in law lives in Mt Airy MD as well. He too is a teach, down in Gaithersburg, MD. If you are interested I would be happy to meet up next time I’m in the area and we can talk over coffee or something. Glad to have you join!

Greg,

This sounds good. Your brother-in-law wouldn’t happen to teach Physics, would he?

John Sorry we didn’t meet up today. Glad you were able to get to the show. See Greg3G’s blog on a summer picnic.

I’m sorry I don’t have any info on the Jet bandsaw.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless
tom
