Got some free wood today….guess I’ll have to cut it up soon like Monte does. Our cousin had this tree cut down because they have a tendancy to fall down on houses without notice. They call these around here: “water oaks”, they have very shallow roots that will often rot below ground or just let loose when the ground gets too wet or too dry. We had one just like it fall down on the other side of the other neighbors house just a month ago narrowly missing the house.

I had the tree crew save me a ’little’ piece!

It’s about 25”-26” in diameter and about 10’ long

That should make several nice ‘Little’ projects. Great save.

I was thinking maybe a couple of business card holders, or maybe a spoon or two!

Too bad you couldn’t grab more of the trunk…
... that little base log will keep you busy for awhile…

Lots of good firewood too!

I’m thinking “turning” it into a toothpick!

Lots of daydreaming material here, and lots of projects once you decide what to do. If you were close
enough to Monte, you might be able to talk him in using his new bandsaw mill for just a few dollars more.
Thank you for sharing.

Joe,

That looks like a nice log and lots of nice projects! Don’t forget to check it with a metal detector since trees close to houses often have nails, etc. in them. You don’t want to have to pay the sawyer for a new blade!
