Got this on ebay the other day:

took things apart:

discovered a chip in the lever cap

not sure how original all the parts are, but it seems like a serviceable tool.

the rear is marked #5, the front is marked Bailey.
the Patent dates behind the frog are shown as:

  • MAR-25-02
  • AUG-19-02
  • APR-19-10

well…off to work!

It is a good candidate. The wood looks excellent. A little evaporust, sandpaper, wire wheel action, sharpening/tuning, and flattening…it will be a good user. Enjoy.

Think I’ll be using electrolysis for rust removal….allready got the wire going on some of the amaller parts!

The wood does look good…won’t take much to look really good!

OK…here are the parts after electrolysis and a little brushing:

Now it’s time to get busy with the brushes, wirewheel, sandpaper and buffing!

that looks like a type 11 Joe. Its my favorite type for bailey’s. I don’t see any parts that are obviously out of place. It will be a great user for sure.
