Update, 06/30/2013, Well, we have made the move to GA. Moved here so my wife could take care of her 88yo father. It was just too stressful trying to do it from 12 hours away. We have moved into his house with just over an acre of land. There's a 100+ year-old oak in the front yard and we have 3 pecan trees that are between 50 and 100 years old that put out a TON of pecans each year. Has a huge back yard that will be perfect for putting up a new shop building. Been here almost a month and have started looking for full-time employment. Nothing yet, but hopefully soon. Biggest issue for us now is our house back in 10aSEE is on the market, and if it doesn't sell soon it's gonna drain our savings.
I've been interested in working with wood since I was just a pup. But it wasnt till the past few years that I was able to actually able to set up a REAL shop and start building things. I usually tell people I consider myself to be a "WoodButcher" 'cause I can turn 100bucks worth of oak and maple into sawdust with the best of 'em :-)
The project I'm most proud of is the new dining room table I built for my wife last year. I was given some 100+ year-old barn wood (oak) and I used maple between the boards for a stripe effect. Hand rubbed it with about 15 coats of Tung oil and (I think) it came out pretty nice.

Someone started a thread the other day talking about how at times he was jealous of some of the other work shops shown here on LJs. The ensuing posts quickly brought to bear that it aint the size or how much big expensive fancy equipment you may h...
