Here are a few of the pens I’ve made. The first one is a fountain pen made from Rosewood. The second one is a fountain pen made from bocotee. The last one is a twist pen made from cocobolo with a football themed clip.

Hope you enjoy,

Convertible park bench/picnic table

Here’s a project that gets a work out during the summer. When you want a comfortable place to sit outside it’s a park bench. When you want to eat outside the bench converts to a picnic table. I built 2 of them and when I put both of them together as a picnic table it seats 6 people and still has plenty of table space for food and drink.

I built it out of preasure treated 2×4s. I can’t remember what book I got the plans out of but if somebody is interested I look for it.

They work pretty well. The back/top pivots and there are 2 eye bolts (one on each end) that locks the back/top either in the back or top positions. Just remember to use galvanized hardware so you wont have to worry about rust.

Cherry Valet - From tree to finished product

I made this out of some of the cherry that my woodworking buddies and I had cut down, milled and then we air dryed it for one year. It was quite an expierence. We paid a sawyer to cut it down and mill it into 4/4 stock. We air dryed it ourselves. We put a lot of “sweat” equity into that wood. We ended up with about 1400 bd. feet.

I made the valet from plans I got out of Wood magazine. I followed the plans pretty closely with a couple of exceptions. Instead of vinyl fabric for inside the drawer and the top tray I used Suede Tex from Rockler’s and instead of a brass knob for the drawer I turned the knob from some of the Cherry.

Now if I can find the time to make an entertainment center from more of that wood…..
