Well, I’m actually just getting around to completing anything. A bit of a late bloomer I guess. Basically I have bought some land where I intend on building a house (hopefully I can complete it within the next decade) and I recently bought a tiny cape and just about finished(ya right) turning the garage into my shop. The shop is 18×22. I raised the ceiling to 9 feet where possible, insulated, wired, sheetrocked, lighted, and so on.
Basically it started like this:
And it has progressed to this:
As you can see, I’m not a snob, I like Wood AND Metal :) In fact I bought a bandsaw mill because I had to clear so many trees for my driveway. The property where I plan to build contains a ton of Hemlock, lots of maple, and a fair amount of cherry. I have some Maple and Cherry that has been air dried for about 2 years. you can see in some the pictures that wasn’t the best drying method. The first batch of cherry has some sticker stain. Oh well, I built a barn and I HAVE MAPLE AND CHERRY :) marshroad.blogspot.com

Wow. Thats some shop! AND you can build just about anything wood or metal! AND you have a sawmill—-and logs!! Jeezze—-I’m realy impressed. Wish I had 1/2 the goodies you do. Welcome and keep the post commng..

Hi Robert,
To say that I am impressed would be an understatement. You have a very nice shop and I did manage to work my way through your website photos. I have often entertained the idea of milling my own lumber for use in woodworking. But you have certainly raised the bar on this concept. Not only did you use your mill for converting the trees into hardwood but you also milled up your own lumber for your house. Wow!!!!!!
I am looking forward to seeing some more of your work.

nice machines! I hope the lathe are on the ground floor when you move into your new shop. I know what you mean about finishing things around the house. It seems like I am working on everyone else’s house instead of my own. Good luck

Nope: no 3-phase, I use a Variable Frequency Drive, you can just see it in one of the pics. I still need to build a Rotary Phase Converter for the lathe, She takes a litle more power than the Bridgeport ;) Both are pretty weathered, but I picked them both up at auction for less than a good table saw :)
