My shop is 2 years old and culmination of years of working in “my half” of the garage. It is 24×24 and added to the side of an existing single car detached garage. I have access between the two with a 36” door. I use the single garage for lumber storage, and my cyclone dust collector. The walls and ceiling are 7/16 OSB painted white. The floor is concrete with an epoxy (with paint specs) paint. The trunk line for the dust collector goes from corner to corner and branches of to the various drops. The exhaust and filter for the dust collector come back into the shop, so I don’t loose my conditioned air. I have manual blast gates that work well with the remote that I clip to my work apron. One wall has my radial arm (1950’s model craftsman) mounted between two 5’ benches that I use for cut-off. Moving on around the walls I have a Mini-Max 16 bandsaw, a 25” Supermax drum sander, a Powermatic 45 (1969) lathe, a sanding station with 4” flap sander and pneumatic drum, Delta shaper, Dewalt scroll saw, router table, and Steel City drill press. In the center of the floor is a Rockwell Unisaw and a Rockwell 8” jointer (pre Rockwell/Delta) and a new Powermatic 20” planer (recent upgrade). I heat and cool the shop with a through the wall heat pump like they put in motel rooms. It was only $900 compared to the $3,000 estimates I got for a central system with duct work. The outside is vinyl siding.

Nice shop. I just put in a Grizzly 2 HP cyclone and did the same exact set up. I didn’t want to heat my shop and then just blow the air out into a cold garage space.

Great place to work I’ll bet. I am very familiar with your location. I used to spend a lot of time driving between Princeton WV and Springfield OH. Also spent many weekends on the Upper Gauley. Really enjoyed my time in West Virginia.

Great looking shop Dan. That cyclone must do a great job I don’t see any sawdust anywhere. You must have cleaned and dusted before letting company in to see. Nice cherry table

Thanks for the comments. Yes, Doc, the cyclone does a good job of capturing the dust and chips at the source. Still have to clean up around the drill press and shaper. Put a floor sweep in near the lathe so that can be cleaned up pretty easily.

Nice shop, Dan. Can’t wait to see it. Makes mine look like an afterthought…which it is, actually…lol. I KNOW the sander comes in handy. Your shop is an inspiration and gives me something to look forward to in retirement.

Hi Dan,
I am getting around to the posts that I have missed. You have a nice shop with room to work and it is heated and cooled as well!!!! I would love to work in there.
Thanks for the post.
