A couple of years ago I was in the same boat. I was outdoing my delta contractor saw and needed something bigger. Obviously I wanted a powermatic or delta uni saw. Kept seeing unisaw’s for about a grand used and powermatics a little more. I told my self for a grand, I will get a grizzly. I have their jointer and for 5 years at the time no problems. My wife is understanding of my hobby/career and realizes an investment has to be made sometimes. However she wants research to back up my purchase decision. I kept shopping around and long behold, Amazon has the industrial delta cabinet saw for $1100 with a 50” beismeyer. Didn’t have to think twice. Better to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Love the saw now for 2 years. Only 2 minor issues, the slanted floor in the bottom of the cabinet isn’t steep enough, I always end up having to clean out the saw even with dust collection. 2nd, what happened to the 2 wrench blade changing setup like the contractor saws have? It is a pain when I am trying to change from a standard blade to a dado and the standard blade is sharp enough to cut the block I am using to lock the blade. Go figure. You won’t regret the unisaw. I don’t have any experience with steel city.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless

I admire your work and your occupation of working with the young people. I have the first three things that I made in highschool, actually four. A cow kicked a milk stool into about four different zip codes and that was before they designated zip codes. Again beautiful piece of work.

Hi Tooldad,
I welcome you to LUMBERJOCKS! & thank you for your response on Jared’s projects.
It’s nice to see another teacher taking interest in teaching kids some serious woodworking.
This is also my first time at trying out Martin’s Widgets! COOL!
