The Best Things in Life....

Blog entry by Todd A. Clippinger posted 316 days ago 251 reads 0 times favorited 51 comments Add to Favorites

WAHOO! I got it!- I think. I figured out how to post photos in the blog so let’s give it a spin.

You’re probably anxiously waiting for the “secrets” of how I perform this or that woodworking task.

Well you’ll have to wait for that. Believe it or not woodworking has to take a back seat to some other things in life that are definitely more important.

Here is a look at something really beautiful – my family. That is my wife Rita and the grandkids (future woodworkers).

Rita & Grandkids Oct '07_2

Quality time is time spent with the wife and taking her out for some fine dining at the In & Out Burger. OK it’s not “fine” but they have the best burgers and shakes.

Hangin' at the In & Out Burger

And my heart just melts at the site of my “girls” Bella (left) and Cookie (right).

Bella & Cookie

There is nothing more enjoyable thaking a walk with Rita and the girls.

I hope you all may be living rich lives. I will share woodworking later, I just had to get priorities straight.

Peace, Love, and Woodworking

I am looking at them in Flickr but they are on “private” for me only and they are not acting the same as I try to copy them. The text looks totally different than the first time in the HTML box.

Make the pictures public Todd. If you right clock on the smaller picture and get it propertiesthen you post a smaller picture in LJ. If you click on the picture in Flickr, you get a larger picture. If you click properties they are different than the other picture. They are larger in LJ.

I have a new box of biscuits if you want one…. Bacon flavored I think.

I did notice that you love dogs. Lots of love for dogs and birds around here… Also, wonderful looking group of grandkids. I will be head into that zone in a while. Hopefully not too soon. Daughter is 18.

I load all of my photos as public. Seems to work well.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction Wayne and Karson.

Good to see you again too. With an excellent family like that, you should never let something this trivial get you down. Great to see you rose to the challenge though. Congrats.

Ain’t nuthin’ better in this whole wide world than sinkin’ your teeth into a hugh, greasy Diner burger! Just don’t tell your doctor! It seems that every other town has one of those 1950’s diners…glad to see you frequent yours!

All your pics came out OK. I like your shop layout but tell me…Why is it that all us wood monkeys have a nice shop where we can turn out some real nice projects, but none of us have ever finished the walls? I can still see areas of my shop with exposed insulation. I see others with sheetrock up and maybe even some mudding done…but that’s as far as it got! I think I’d love to be able to finish mine some day! Some day!

Dadoo’s right about the walls. I can’t help myself. The nature of a bird is to fly. The nature of a woodworker is to not finish his walls. The really bad part is that I have sheetrock waiting to be hung.

“The cobbler’s children never have shoes” applies to the rest of my house. Now that I publicly admit it, I am awash in guilt. My poor wife.

Oh Todd. If you could see all the projects that are incomplete in my house… (we can’t anymore – except in pictures) yet my wife is happy I’m taking Nov and Dec off from doing house projects! By the time I get back to them I’ll have lost some of the things i need in the clutter. Gotta go down and clean up the shop – that’s not housework, that’s woodworking (prep).

There’s a great old fashioned diner in my college town – great food. great coffee. loved that place.

Good looking family you’ve got there.

LOL – Peace, Love and Woodworking! – I have sooo stolen that line! and now my many nieces (nine)are mad at you Todd, cause thats what I say to them all the time now – they’re all sooo “hip” – I even came up with some “gang” sign so that even across the soccer field they know what Uncle Mark is saying….they just shake their head…LOL! (I crack me up!) –
Thanks for the line! (you have a beautiful family and your priorities are in the right place!)

Told my house mouse I wanted to finish the garage walls and she said, “Not until you’ve finished the upstairs bedroom!” Well, that’s finished and now she wants to know when I’m gonna install the window seat with the lateral file drawer, cabinet and bookshelf unit in the den….(sigh!).

Todd, the Cooper project will still stand as a one-of-a kind, super high end example of fine homebuiding. Can’t blame you for wanting to be home, though. Like Tom it’s hard to believe those are your grandkids!

I also want to see Schroeder flashing the gang signs. I’d put it on an update of his (and Cronk’s) shop tour. Fun.
