I design and build to maintain my sanity. As I am constantly inspired by my surroundings, especially nature, it becomes necessary to "download" the numerous images of new pieces from my head into reality. It's a lot like having a term paper due - designs gnaw at me internally until I sit down, design and finally build whatever image is screaming loudest to be born. I have always been an artist but I've worked as a printer, a graphic designer and an aerospace engineer. I studied industrial design, architecture, landscape architecture and theology. Lots of schooling, lots of working - I'm the happiest when I'm in my studio making sawdust!

Hi Dan,
Thanks for you kind comments – been really busy this past year with work but just got back in the shop yesterday to finish up three pieces for clients and begin a new one.

You might be a Lumber jock if your family puts up with the smell of Waterlox and paint thinner in the house because it drifts in every time you go back out to your shop to “just put on one more coat.”
