Well this is the beginning of a thank you card that i am making for someone. another woodworker who helped me out a lot (i won’t say their name just because I don’t want them to find out and just for their sake). this is going to be a cool card made out of some scrap mahogany that i had around. I am really going to try and show off here showing off all and every woodworking skill i have and making something that will be really nice.
now to start off i just took a board of mahogany and cut two pieces to glue together. i chose the way that the grain went best and jointed the sides to a nice fit with a small pass with a block plane and cleanup with a scraper. here the boards are gluing up.
Then when it was done gluing up i flushed up the joint with a card scraper
and sanded the front as i will have to add some more material to the top for a detail i am doing. it will be hard to sand that later on. you will also see what that other material is for in the second post.
and here the other material is gluing up.
so thats all i have for now. I hope to get another post done by Sunday with the laying out of the detail on top. i will also say what that detail is in the second post. i would tell now but i only have a general idea of what i want the detail to be. i want it to be like the bonnet crown molding on top of some pieces. i need to find a good picture of it first though so i can lay it out. well thats it for now.
i don’t know why but for the life of me i can not figure out how to get pictures on this site. any help would be appreciated (and yes i tries the exclamation points)

hey everyone. I realize that the pictures aren’t up yet but I’m working on that. If worse comes to worse i’ll just link to them.

i use photo-bucket and it works well. You have to put in the direct link code I belive. That should work. I think blip.tv has a linked code like that.

i tried to get them on but the pictures were to big. I’ll just cut down on the size next time. It’s too late and too much work to change all the sizes now.

you need to post JUST the picture, not the whole page
First to get it to work better you need to resize the image to 512 pixels wide or so. (At the size on blip, about all you can see with out scrolling is part of the paint can on the left)
I used your first link for an example
http://blip.tv/file/856567
right click on the picture and get link,
results in
http://blip.tv/file/get/Teenagewoodworker-Picture754.JPG?referrer=blip.tv&source=1
remove the garbage after the .JPG (note that the picture name and extension are usually CASE SENSITIVE jpg is not the same as JPG)
http://blip.tv/file/get/Teenagewoodworker-Picture754.JPG
then paste this with out the spaces after and before the ! into your posting
! http://blip.tv/file/get/Teenagewoodworker-Picture754.JPG !
I would have done so, but at that resolution would not display well at all :-)
my avitar is at

thanks fredf
i just got a photobucket account and it is much easier to do everything. I have already laid out the top detail and have the pictures on and i converted the size and it was really easy on photobucket. i’ll be paoting that later on today.
