Hey Everybody, I just figured that i would do an update on the design. this is a really make shift video as i just threw it together tonight. it goes through all the major design aspects though of the bottom of the armoire. Well i hope that everyone likes it.
So i hope everyone liked it. As i said if you have any comments or suggestions just leaves a message. the drawer supports are probably overkill but i want this to stand the test of time. As i also said i will try to finish the design of the top and get it out within the next week. Well I hope that everyone enjoyed and i hope to see you again next week!
P.S. Just a small announcement. there will be no fourth episode to my printer table series. I ran into some difficulties both in the finishing part and the technical part. somehow i lost some footage and my camera ran out of batteries right as i was pouring the finish onto the piece. Well no way i could go back but i will have a finishing episode in the future on just my basic everyday easy to apply finish. The Gel Poly one is good but i want to throw some other ideas out there too.

You are looking pretty good with this so far. The dresser looks to be well designed. You have gotten a fairly good start on Sketchup.

Nice design, have you thought about making two top drawers then putting a small tray in one of them on rails for holding things like your watch, loose change, and things you wouldn’t want to fall to to the bottom of the drawer. I know some men like their stuff on top of there dresser, but I always liked mine out of sight. Just a thought. keep up the good work.

Looks like you have a good start, have done your research, and have started putting you idea to paper(virtual paper).
It’s hard to sit in someones office without my eyes wandering to see how the furniture is built. After restoring several antique pieces that we have picked up at auctions; I will throw this comment in. The dressers we have done basically had no nails or screws in them except to hold the top. As you stated ”stand the test of time”; good joinery and glue will definately be a great foundation.

thanks for the comments everyone. in response to Joey this isn’t the whole thing yet. I just wanted to update everyone on how it was going. it will have another section on the top that will have a door and shelves inside for my valuable and sweatshirts and things of the like.

That’s going to be a great project. I don’t think the drawer supports are overkill at all. My boys constantly over stuff their drawers and i have to repair them over the years.
