Hey Everyone! Welcome to the first video episode of Teen Age Woodworking. In this episode i will overview all of the tools that i think you need to hold a successful small woodworking shop. these are also tools that you should look to buy if you are trying to start up a workshop. i forgot to mention these two power tools though. they are not necessities but will make your life a whole lot easier. a small bench top table saw (for ripping wood) and a 10 inch miter saw (for making cuts on small stock and getting perfect miters). well i hope you enjoy the video.
i hope that you enjoyed the video. if you did then remember to check back for my next episode. my mother wants me to make something for her so i will take everyone through the steps of the project from picking out wood to the stain that I’ll be using. well i hope that you’ll come again.

Hay! Denis
I consider you, to be what this site is mainly about. From one woodworker to another, I welcome you to LumberJocks. You have already fit in nicely. I think you have done an excellent job with your video post and your mom has to be very proud of you. I’m really looking forward to your future posts. What are you going to build for the lucky lady?
God bless

well she wants me to build a sort of hanger thing so we can hang up coats on the wall. its not a huge treasure trove of skills but i figure it will be a good chance to look at milling lumber, laminating boards, and to try out the “foolproof finish” (fine woodworking 196)

Very well done. It’s a good start and will only get better as you do more. Maybe it’s my old ears, but I did have a bit of a problem hearing what you were saying, so having someone else give it an ear would help. Do you work from a script? Keep up the good work.

no i don’t work from a script. my camera doesn’t have the best sound what i do is just turn it up pretty loud and sit about five feet back. it sounds better and the resolution is better. you can see it in full screen if you do that to.

Hi Dennis,
You are a young man of courage, keep it up. I’m sure you’ll go far in woodworking and in life with an attitude like you’ve got. I take my hat off to you.
I enjoyed the video very much, I’ll be looking for more from you.
All the best

Hi Dennis,
This was a very polished and informative video. I have videos of my son when he was about your age “producing” a play for a drama class in high school. They were nowhere near as well done as this video. Great work young man. You displayed a great deal of courage and maturity with this video. I am sure that you are doing equally well in school and you should do well not only with woodworking, should you continue to pursue this, but in college as well.
Thanks for sharing this post.
God bless.

Super job…...........that’s the way to participate!!!! You are absolutely correct. That’s all the tools you need to get started.
I’m impressed…....don’t loose sight that you have to continually be building inorder to get good at this stuff. You are starting at the right age.

Great Job Dennis. You have an developed a hobby that will last a lifetime. I’ll pass on to you the one thing my Grandfather told me that means the most to me still today
” Everything you build, be it a house or a table, is a monument to your life. If it is well made, with proper care and forethought, will last longer than your lifetime. It will be a testamony to your life as a craftman, good or bad. People will see you through your work, even if they don’t meet you face to face. So every time you start a new project, do you best.”
You have a great start. If you ever need advice, this is the place to come for help. Thats why we are here.

I thoroughly enjoyed your video and will be sharing it with a young student of mine. You are on the right track and have already learned to appreciate the statement “buy the best you can afford”. Good luck to you. I look forward to seeing future videos and reading some articles in print about your work someday.

Denis,
I’ve got three daughter’s and I’m happy to see that you do listen to your parents and don’t give out a lot of personal info as it’s really not needed. I do think that you should invite your parents to visit LJ though (if they haven’t already), I’d be extremely proud to see my kids put together what you have done!
keep up the good work and tell your parents they should get you a new iMac so you can continue making great videos!

You have a great grasp of the material you cover, and I thoroughly enjoyed your video presentation.
I am building a sideboard, which will have drawers that will need joinery. You are inspiring me to consider tackling dovetails!
