What happened to my shop???

As some of you know, I’ve been battling Epstein-Barr for the past 2 months. The only “treatment” is water and rest. I’m not one to lay around, so on top of having no energy I’ve had to put up with laying around the house. The most trying part is staying out of my “shop”. I spent the summer and part of the fall transforming the gargage. I still haven’t done anything about the lighting due to being down and not having the money to hire someone. But I had it where I could do a few things when the weather was good and the gargage door up. I planned on hiring an electrician after Christmas, but this illness has put it off until at least spring. The last time I was out there was to get the Christmas stuff down from the attic. My beautiful and loving partner re-arranged the house a little and I remember thinking, “Wow. She really opened up the space. Wonder how she did it?” I found out when I went into my “shop” 2 weeks ago to start on her desk project!!! My family is the most important part of my life…I can’t imagine life without her or the kids. But gosh darn it, just because I’m not using the “shop” doesn’t mean to turn it into a storage shed!!! (ha ha ha). So, if you ever become ill (and it’s my prayer that ALL of you are healthy and safe), remind your loving families of the purpose of the “shop”, especially if you’re like me and have to make do with what you have. Actually, I had a good laugh over it and told myself that at least I have an opportunity to “redesign” it again.

That’s why, when we move and I have a dedicated shop again, I’ll make sure to have the lock changed and have the only key :D

I truly understand. My job takes me away from home for weeks at a time. When I do get to come home, I have to get all the junk outta my shop that the wife has accumulated in my absence. It irks her to no end when I say “Where do you want me to put this” or “this does not belong in my shop. Where else do you want this?” We have been married for 32 years and we can read each others minds. I will not say where she would like for me to put those things, but it would be very painful for me!...LOL

Could be worse. They could have moved you outside. You should put some shelves up at the top of those blank wals that fit those tubs. I am planning on some high shelves for stuff like that. Have you thought about that?

Glad you are feeling better.

Hey, don’t worry ‘bout it, cher. I’ve found that having the time to consider your moves in the shop usually payoff with a more tenable and workable situation. Heal up and have some fun whenever you can.

By the way, the blue shop table is the one I built last fall. My first major project.

We ‘had’ Christmas at our house, too. I have not yet recovered my space from all the temporary placement of stuff. I hope your recovery is on track.

You do not need an electrician for the lights.
Get T-8’s and put a plug and cord on each. Get the receptacle additions to put in the light sockets and plug them in. Really inexpensive way to light up your life.

Then you can see where to put that other stuff.

I see a lot of wasted space on those walls. Install some suspended shelving. You love it.
